Concentric

Even people who don’t believe in God call out His name
Those who do, seldom cry to Him; it’s such a shame
Keeping the Almighty, Uncreated One in a box of glass
For people to nonchalantly gaze at as they casually pass

Minds bigger than hearts drown out the sounds of God’s spirit
We, with unstopped ears, try and try so hard to hear it
Above the noise of the nuisance of the routine everyday
Main thing needs focus, if only all else would easily fade away

We ought to lay down the burdens we carry -- they're useless
We should carry the burden He offers -- it's harmless
Just remove from your shoulder the yoke of heaviness
And take up the Master's yoke -- it's marked with lightness

Why shun the loving rod of a gracious Father
And aimlessly turn to the arms of another
Why run from discipline that imparts true love
When sons and daughters are trained and loved

Why resist His loving truth -- it's for all to see
Why replace it with glossy lies and refuse to be set free
We complicate the simple things and nullify the Strong
We call foolish wise and wisdom folly -- but we're wrong

He simply calls us to come to Him; that's all
He just wants to pick us up when we fall
All that we ever longer for is found in Him
But we, with wayward hearts, instead follow our whims

It's not too late, it's not too late
An open heart won't enervate
But usher strength and love to sate
Just sit, be still and patiently wait
